Two barns, one of which served as the laundry building and one which was the carriage house of the Brunswick Hotel in Lindsborg (owned by Ramona's parents), were made available to Lester and Ramona Raymer for a home and a studio. The laundry building was transformed into a place to live for a few years and the carriage house became the studio. The north side of the current studio is the original laundry area and the far south side is the original carriage house. Over the years Raymer transformed the buildings into one unit complete with a back courtyard and had plans for a north courtyard as his studio.
As soon as the studio was complete Raymer moved, Lester and Ramona opened the Red Barn Studio. In the beginning work was signed as the Red Barn Craft Studio. Interest in Raymer's artwork was generated by the crafts and art sold at the local celebrations, through major publicity, and awards Raymer won in national and regional exhibitions. His work was for sale at the Red Barn Studio and other area galleries. The studio is now open to the public and contains Raymer's art and works he created for the studio environment.
